Views Global Settings and Import/Export for Drupal 7 Views

This video looks at the global settings options and shows the use of the Views import/export tool.

Global Settings

Global settings are found from a menu tab on top of the Views main panel (the list of all views on the site). Checkboxes exist for the following global functions; for View List a filter is available which is very useful if there are a lot of views, making finding a particular view a lot easier.

It is noteworthy that at the time this video was created, the range of add-on modules for Views in Drupal 7 was somewhat limited, especially for production site use. Since then the range has expanded, and more of these extra modules are getting released in stable versions suitable for use on live production sites.

Rewriting Views Fields

Topics presented in this user guide include: How to add markup to fields, setting a maximum length for text fields, grouping fields by starting letter and rewriting fields into  links. Rewriting output is a useful tool that helps us to present content in ways we want.
